Jabalna Arak is an aniseed-flavored traditional Lebanese distilled spirit. It is typically enjoyed as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to meze dishes, which are made up of small appetizers. To enjoy this delicious drink, it should be served in a tall and narrow arak glass. The glass can be filled with 1-2 ounces of arak and carefully topped off with 2-3 ounces of ice-cold water, stirring gently until the arak louches (turns cloudy). Additionally, some people like to add a splash of freshly squeezed lemon juice for extra flavor. To properly enjoy this strong beverage, sipping slowly is recommended in moderation.
