About the wine
Gamla Merlot features black and red berries with hints of spice, herbs, orange peel and chocolate. This is a merlot that features a fun body and wonderful taste.
Gamla Merlot is ready to drink now and under proper storage conditions it will continue to evolve in the bottle for a number of years and will be enjoyable for up to seven years from the vintage.
 
Wine and food
This is a wine that will suit a variety of dishes. We like to drink it alongside a slice of butchers, roasted oats in citrus sauce and herbs, or lasagna with mushrooms and spinach.
 
Gamla Merlot 2018 is produced from grapes grown in the vineyards of the Golan Heights, an area that has been proven to produce Merlot of exceptional quality. The wine was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.
 
On the tumor area
The Galilee is the northernmost growing area in Israel and is considered the best for growing wine grapes. Within this growing area, the Golan Heights is the part where the temperatures are the coolest and the grapes are of the highest quality. The vineyards on this volcanic plateau grow from 400 meters to 1200 meters above sea level and the highest ones where snow meets in winter.
The Golan Heights Winery is located in the city of Katzrin, which is in the center of the Golan.
